I just found Pastor Mike Signorelli on Youtube and this was the second video I watched of his. It is a great conversation between two pastors that I gained a few insightful nuggets from.

Paganism in Christianity

This really spoke to me. Doing works to receive a reward is paganism. Pastor Matty said something along the lines of ‘if I do enough works then I give myself permission to have faith for it.’ That is so true. You have to have faith beyond your own works because none of your works would get you there anyway, everything is by the grace of God and the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross.

Asking God as a parent/Inheritance

I already know that I will grant my daughter many of the things she asks for if they are in reason just because she is my daughter. Coming to God with that mindset, we can be bold and ask God for things as His children. ‘Slaves get assignments; children get opportunities.’ God is so much better than us, but also so much better than we can even imagine He is.

You receive your identity from your father. If you didn’t have your biological father in your life, you have your heavenly father who was there all along. They talked about the parable of the talents and how we can receive things from God we don’t deserve and never asked for. Once you let go of what you think you should be doing and follow God, you will live in His plan for your life and start working towards building a kingdom that you will one day inherit. ‘I didn’t earn this, I didn’t produce this, but I’m going to be bold enough to ask you for it anyway.’

Overall

This video gave me more perspective on who God is. I understand better what it means to be a child of God and the fact that nothing I do can save me, only what Jesus on the cross can. I really enjoyed this video and these two men seem like great pastors.
