Growing up in America, a burger is an undeniable classic. Even though burgers are a common find at pretty much any restaurant, I still wanted to be able to make it myself at home. Before I came up with my own burger style, I did some research on the best burger tips on the internet. Below is how I make my burgers at home using everything I learned.

A delicious homemade burger that is hearty and delicious.
Ingredients
Meat
- 1 lb. ground beef or ground bison
- Salt and pepper
Assembly
- 2 pretzel hamburger buns
- 1/2 avocado
- 1/2 tomato
- 2 leaves of lettuce
- 1 Tbsp. mayonnaise
- 1 Tbsp. bbq sauce
- Chips or fries
Instructions
Meat
- Preheat 12” cast iron skillet over medium (6) heat for 4-5 minutes.
- Divide meat in half and shape into 3/4” patties. Create a thumbprint indent in the center.
- Place patties in skillet. Sprinkle generously with salt and pepper.
- Cook for 2 minutes, then rotate patties 180°. Cook for another 2 minutes.
- Flip patties so outside part is now on the inside of the skillet. Sprinkle again with salt and pepper.
- Cook for another 2 minutes, then rotate patties 180°. Cook for another 2 minutes.
- Flip patties, then remove from heat.
- Allow to rest in skillet for 1 minute, then move to a plate to rest for another 3-5 minutes.
Prep
- Cut buns in half and toast insides until crispy.
- Cut tomato and avocado into slices.
- Wash lettuce and pat dry.
- Mix mayonnaise and bbq sauce together.
Assembly
- Spread bbq/mayonnaise mixture on both sides of both buns.
- From the bottom up: bottom bun, avocado, tomato, burger patty, lettuce, top bun.
- Serve chips or fries on the side.
