A delightful way to change up apple pie.
Ingredients
Apple filling
- 1 1/2 large apples
- 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. orange juice or water
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp. ginger
- Pinch of cardamom
- 1 Tbsp. flour or 2 tsp. cornstarch
Egg wash
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp. milk
Instructions
- Slice apples into 1/4” slices. Add to a bowl along with remaining apple filling ingredients. Set aside.
- Make pie crust. Roll out into a circle ~1/8” thick. Add apples to the center, leaving a 2” border.
- Fold up pie crust around apples. Brush outside with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake at 375°F for 32-35 minutes, until outside is golden brown. Halfway through cooking, rotate pan and pour any juices left from the apples into the center of the galette.
- Allow to cool on baking sheet for at least 5 minutes before serving.
