Refried beans

A great side dish for any Mexican meal.
Ingredients
- 3 cups cooked black or pinto beans
- 1/2 cup broth
- 1/4 tsp. each garlic powder, cumin, pepper, and salt
Instructions
- Drain beans, if needed. Add to a pot along with remaining ingredients.
- Allow to cook on medium-high (6) heat for 5-10 minutes, covered. Remove lid and mash beans with a potato masher.
- Reduce heat to medium-low (3). Continue simmering and mashing until desired consistency, ~3 more minutes.
Notes
For smoother refried beans, allow to cool slightly then blend with food processor.
