Bbq pulled pork

An easy way to serve a crowd or make lunch for the week.
Ingredients
Pork butt
- 5-7 lbs. pork shoulder butt
- 2 Tbsp. oil
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
Dry rub
- 3 Tbsp. brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. smoked paprika
- 2 tsp. pepper
- 2 tsp. cumin
- 2 tsp. garlic powder
- 2 tsp. onion powder
- 1 tsp. chili powder
Finishing
- 1 cup bbq sauce
- 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar
- 1 tsp. brown sugar
- 1 tsp. reserved liquid
Instructions
- Pat entire pork butt dry. Score fat cap then cut in half.
- Mix dry rub and set aside.
- Rub entire piece of pork butt with oil, then rub all but 3 tablespoons of rub, reserving excess for later.
- Place meat halves in ziploc gallon bags in the fridge for 12-48 hours.
- Sear meat on all sides over medium-high (6) heat. Place in crockpot, then pour chicken broth on the side.
- Cook on low for 5-6 hours, until meat near the bone is between 195°-200°F.
- Remove meat and allow to rest for 5 minutes tented with foil. Drain liquid from crockpot and set aside.
- Shred meat with two forks then return to crockpot.
- Add finishing ingredients, to taste, and serve.
