Fufu (pounded yam flour)

An easy way to make fufu using store bought pounded yam flour.

Ingredients

  • 3 1/4 cups water
  • 1 1/4 cups fufu flour

Instructions

  1. Bring water to a boil. Reserve 1/4 cup and set aside.
  2. Measure the fufu flour into a bowl. Add ~1/2 cup of boiling water to the fufu flour and stir until completely smooth. Pour mixture back into the pot with the boiling water and stir.
  3. Mix fufu with a wooden spoon for 3-4 minutes, pressing it into the sides of the pot, until elastic and smooth.
  4. Once elastic, add the reserved 1/4 cup of water back to pot. Cover and steam on low (2) heat for 3-5 minutes.
  5. After steaming, stir fufu again for another few minutes until cohesive.
