A hearty comfort food.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1/2 bell pepper (green or red)
  • 3 cloves of garlic
  • 1 can kidney beans
  • 1-14 oz. can diced tomatoes
  • 1-14 oz. can crushed tomatoes
  • 1 cup elbow macaroni, uncooked
  • 1 habanero
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp. soy sauce

Seasonings

  • 2 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp. basil
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1/2 tsp. cumin
  • 1 tsp. pepper
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

  1. Dice onion and bell pepper. Mince garlic. Drain and rinse beans. Set all aside.
  2. Add ground beef, onion, and bell pepper to a pot. Cook until ground beef is no longer pink. Drain if needed.
  3. Add garlic and all seasonings and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes. Add remaining ingredients and adjust to taste.
  4. Bring to a boil, then lower heat to medium-low (3). Cover and simmer for 13-15 minutes, until pasta is fully cooked.
