Baked pears

A simple yet effective way to enjoy pears for breakfast or dessert.
Ingredients
- 2 pears
- 1 tsp. coconut oil
- 1 Tbsp. fruit juice or water
- Cinnamon, ginger, and salt
Instructions
- Peel pears, if desired, and cut in half. Remove core with a spoon. If skin left on, cut a sliver out of the back to allow to stand up.
- Set pears on a baking dish. If peeled, put middle side down; if unpeeled, put middle side up. Brush with coconut oil.
- Sprinkle well with spices and salt. Pour fruit juice or water on top of pears and mix everything well.
- Bake at 400ºF for 30-40 minutes, basting the pears in the liquid 2-3 times during cooking, if desired. Once finished, remove from oven and baste pears again.
Notes
This recipe can be scaled up or down.
Leaving the skin on is optional. It doesn’t affect the final result, and becomes soft after some time in the oven.
Basting is also optional. It prevents the pears from drying out too much, but the end result will be fine if this step is skipped.
